Like its namesake, the Turbo Chook is a sturdy yet speedy nugget of a pack designed for light multiday trips, adventure races, long single day missions and even multi-pitch climbing.
Whether you’re walking, running, climbing or doing something in between, the Turbo Chook is a super stable, super durable frameless pack with a storage-maximized, vest-style harness.
There are plenty of “fastpack” options out there. What is unique about this one?
-
Durability. Most lightweight vest packs are not built for the kinds of conditions we face in Tasmania. By using the unbelievably tough Ultra 400 for the pack body, foregoing light bungee compression cords for solid webbing and using the Venom UHMWPE reinforced stretch-mesh, this pack will handle years of scrub and rock based abuse.
-
Waterproofing. The Ultra 400 fabric is inherently waterproof and all internal seams are fully taped. While small amounts of moisture may sneak through the roll-top in extremely wet conditions, nothing will get through the fabric.
-
Customisation. A vest-style harness is only comfortable if it fits. Rather than just offering a couple of generic sizes, the harness will be built specifically to your dimensions.
-
Stability. Normally, vest-style packs don’t fare too well with heavier multiday loads: the harness struggles to hold the weight, the pack body sags and bouncing is inevitable (especially while running). The Turbo Chook is different. With a harness designed for multiple axes of adjustable tension, and solid compression straps, the load is kept high and tight against your back. The stiffness of the pack fabric itself keeps its contents under control. Bouncing is virtually eliminated. When carrying less gear, the bottom wrap-around compression strap can be fully cinched, closing off the base of the pack and keeping the load right between your shoulder blades. Even the soft flask pouches have compression cords that can be cinched, eliminating the pesky sloshing and jiggling of half-full flasks.
